Housing & Interior Design
COURSE OBJECTIVE: Housing & Interior Design focuses on the development of efficient and cost-effective room and floor plans that meet the needs of residential and/or commercial clients. The elements and principles of design as found in the housing industry, drafting of floor plans, and interior design/decorating are the primary areas to be covered. Students will develop skills that will enable them to plan or assist in the planning of their own living space area and decor, or may provide a foundation for a career in this field. Elements and Principles of Design

Assessing and Meeting Needs
UNIT OBJECTIVE: The learner will identify individual or family housing needs, and address social, psychological, economic, and cultural issues related to meeting those needs. FCSNS 2.1, 11.6
Architecture
UNIT OBJECTIVE: The learner will explore the history and desirability of architectural styles throughout history. FCSNS 3.4, 11.5
Drafting
UNIT OBJECTIVE: The learner will demonstrate the efficient use of space in drafting a room/floor plan to scale, complete with furnishings. FCSNS 11.4, 11.7
Interior Decorating
